Fairness is the thing you are being charged for. Amounts are revealed to everyone at once when bidding closes, which also protects the platform from any accusation that a number was shopped around.

Stages, retention and certification all live on the platform so everyone can see what is owed. The actual transfer happens in the cooperative's own bank — settling contractor payments too would roughly double the platform's regulatory scope.
When the cooperative certifies the final stage, the linked milestone flips to done and every member on the development is notified automatically — with no further action from anyone.

Certifications earned on one development are visible to every other cooperative on the platform. It is the strongest reason to keep work on-platform rather than settling it privately.
A disputed work order stays visible. There is currently no resolution path defined for it, which is the one genuinely open question left in the design.
